Welcome to Coastguard Boating Education
Service- the leading provider of recreational boating education in New
Zealand!
Whether it is messing about in boats, a spot of
fishing or competing at the great regattas of the world, New Zealanders
appreciate life on the water. Most of us are also aware of the respect we
must have for this formidable force of nature, and appreciate how much
more there is to learn. Did you realise that New Zealand has the fifth
largest coastline of any country in the World?
CBES has long recognised that education rather
than legislation or regulations alone, will develop more responsible
attitudes and behaviour among boat users. Our objective is to increase
safety & enjoyment through a range of recreational boating courses,
from basic boating education to internationally recognised yachtmaster
qualifications.
CBES is NZQA accredited as a Private Training
Establishment and has over 400 accredited tutors who deliver courses
throughout the country at coastguard units, polytechnics, maritime
schools, community colleges, schools, boat clubs and other delivery sites.
In 2004 over 13,000 students nationwide completed a CBES
course.
CBES is the education division of
the Coastguard New Zealand. We act as the "fence at the top of the
cliff" while Coastguard New Zealand's search and rescue operation
units are the "ambulance at the bottom", rescuing those who get into
trouble on the water.
Don't become a statistic. Do a CBES course and
enjoy your boating more with the confidence of knowledge and the skills to
match! |
