		<title>Earthquake Damage to Coastguard Waimakariri-Ashley station</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Coastguard Waimakariri-Ashley volunteers have been busy making sure they are operational after Saturday mornings 7.1 earthquake tilted their headquarters building and damaged their launching slipway.  The concrete block building itself has stood the test well but being situated on the riverbank has meant that it has tilted and lost power and water feeds.

		<description><![CDATA[Over 500 children and young people showed their boating safety knowledge at the Christchurch Boat Show and were rewarded with a &#8216;port side&#8217; red balloon.  Coastguard people talked with their parents about safe boating and becoming a Coastguard Supporter.

		<title>Sumner Lifeboat rescue traffic barrier</title>
		<description><![CDATA[June 13th Police called Sumner Lifeboat at 12.30pm after a member of the public reported seeing an orange object in the water off Whitewash Head, Banks Peninsula.   Hamilton Jet Rescue was launched with 3 volunteer crew aboard and located the object.  It turned out to be a large orange traffic barrier.
